Women's Soccer Wraps Up Season Against Albion

Alma, Mich. – Alma College Women's Soccer wrapped up their season on Wednesday, October 30 at Scotland Yard against Albion College. An early goal from Emily Ahearn, assisted by Anna Waterstredt, gave the Scots a 1-0 lead, but the Brits knocked in a pair of goals in the second half to steal a 2-1 victory.

The first half was all Alma as they registered 12 shots with 7 coming on goal. In the 12th minute, Waterstredt attained possession at midfield and took off down the right sideline. Nearing the box, she sent a cross that found the right foot of Ahearn who sent the ball passed the keeper into the bottom left corner of the net for her third goal of the season, putting the Scots up 1-0. This lead held until halftime.

The Albion offense picked up their intensity in the second half, applying pressure to Alma's defense for the entirety of the period. The Brits scored the equalizer in the 59th minute and took the lead in the 67th minute. The Scots were unable to spark a comeback and fell by a score of 2-1.

Hannah Meyer, Grace Buckingham, Jacquline Daigneault, and Waterstredt each had one shot on target to go along with the goal by Ahearn. Bryn Bishop led Alma with five shots, three of which were on goal. Breanna McCluskey also registered a shot attempt.

Mya Pofahl, who's been solid during her first year in goal for the Scots, recorded 8 saves on the day, bringing her season total to 118 across 14 games.

This match marks the end of the 2024 Alma College Women's Soccer season. The team will look to support Waterstredt during the upcoming women's basketball season and Kylie Lewis in the spring for the women's lacrosse campaign.
