ALMA, Mich. – The Alma College men's basketball team returned to Art Smith Arena on Wednesday, February 8th, as they took on the No. 13 Knights of Calvin University. The Scots were defeated by the Knights to a final score of 98-62 in their second straight game against a nationally ranked opponent.

Calvin opened up the scoring in the game and Alma responded early with a three by Nate Deyman. Calvin would keep their offensive presence steady and start building a lead over the Scots. Alma was able to put together some offensive runs together late in the first half trying to hang on with Calvin. The Scots were able to outscore the Knights in the final six minutes of the first half, looking to carry that momentum into the second half.

Alma struggled to contain the Knights on defense and the Scots found themselves battling back from their early deficit. The nationally ranked Knights outscored Alma in both halves by double-digits on 60% shooting from the field in the contest. Alma also struggled guarding from deep as Calvin shot north of 50% from downtown. 

Landen Moore-Pierce was the highest scorer for Alma with ten points on the night. Colton Meister led in the rebound category with six total boards for the outing. Connor Riley and Tyshaun Walker both added two assists to tie for the team-high. The Scots recorded eight offensive rebounds as a team, edging the Knights by two in that category. 

Alma will now turn their attention towards Albion College, who they will face off against on February 11th. Tipoff will be at 3:00 PM in Art Smith Arena.
