Box Score Angola, IN – Alma College Women's Basketball played their second straight nationally ranked opponent on Saturday when they headed down to Indiana to face off with Trine University. Alma was defeated
Trine got off to a 9-0 start, but the Scots responded with a 7-point run of their own to pull the gap back down to 2. The Thunder stifled Alma's offense late in the quarter however, and hit the break with an 11-point lead. The Scots offense picked up in the second quarter, but the Thunder also found their groove, lighting it up from three-point range. At the halftime break, Alma trailed 41-22.
The teams scored nearly basket for basket in the third quarter, with the Thunder pulling away further by 5 points heading into the fourth. The final frame was the best from an offensive standpoint, Alma scored 18 and outscored Trine by 2 in the last 10 minutes. The scoring stopped at 71-49.
Taylor Sas was red hot from the field, shooting over 70% from the field to score 18 points with 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Izzy Alston made her mark for the second straight game, scoring 14 points to go with a block and a steal. Maddie Robbins scored 7 points, while also dishing out a team high 6 assists. Also passing the ball well was Olivia Warren, who wound up with 5 helpers.
Alma will play their final road game of the regular season on Wednesday at Adrian.
