Saginaw, MI – Alma College Track traveled to SVSU for a tune up meet on Friday night. The Scots broke several school records in a great day of action.
Helenda Snyder kicked things off, taking third place in the high jump with a clearance of 1.48 meters. Victoria Gotaas also finished in the top 5 with a clearance of 1.43 meters.
On the women's side, Andrea Taghon finished 3rd in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.80 seconds, and Snyder was right with her teammate, finishing 4th in 9.89 seconds. Both women now stand 1-2 in Scots history as the fastest 60 meter hurdlers to ever do it at Alma. Ericka Bigham finished first in the 400 meters. Her time was 58.98 seconds. Cornelia Gotaas picked up a 6th place finish with a time of 2:24.02.
On the men's side, Devin Rice finished in 7.11 seconds in the 60 meter dash to take 6th. Rice would later pick up a win in the 200 meters, finishing in 22.80 seconds. This was a program record, besting the old mark of 22.93. Jordan Maxima was 7th in the event as well with a 23.44. Ross McNeel would pick up another win for the Scots, finishing the 400 meters in 51.96. Right behind him was Landon Jennings. His 52.02 helped the Scots to secure a 1-2 in the event. Ed Markarian jumped 6.19 meters in the long jump to 6th place.
The Scots have tuned up, and are set for next week's MIAA Indoor Track and Field Championships at Trine.
