Five Scots Score in Double-Digits as Comeback Falls Short

Box Score

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Alma College men's basketball returned to action on Wednesday, February 15th, when they took on the Bulldogs of Adrian College. The Scots played a competitive game but were clipped by the Bulldogs by a final score of 86-79.

Adrian opened the scoring on their first possession of the game which led to Alma matching and both teams creating a scoring affair early. Alma took their first lead of the night with 14 minutes remaining, but the Bulldogs would quickly tie. Alma would once again take the lead and hold onto it for an extended period of time throughout the rest of the first half. In a back-and-forth contest, Alma was able to get timely stops to increase their lead before Adrian would battle their way back. The Scots lead slipped in the final minutes of the first and Adrian would lead at the half, 44-38.

The Scots were determined to fight to the end coming out of the half and tightened the game up quickly with two unanswered buckets. The Bulldogs would hold the lead throughout the second half, but the Scots would bring the deficit to one possession multiple times. Adrian would eventually gain a several possessions lead halfway into the final half before Tyshaun Walker knocked down four unanswered points to bring the game within two. With five minutes remaining, the game was still a one-possession lead for the Bulldogs and a Gabe Bourdeau three kept them within reach from the Bulldogs who were converting at a high percentage on offense. The Scots would eventually fall in the final minute of the game with some costly turnovers and look to rebound at home on Saturday.

Alma's leading scorer was Walker, who finished the game with 21. Colton Meister added 15 points to follow behind while also collecting a game-high ten rebounds for a double-double. Walker also racked up a game-high six assists in the contest. Meister recorded four steals while five Scots ended the night in double digits for points.

Alma will now focus their attention to Saturday, February 18th, as they honor the life of past player and coach Tye Edwards in their "Be Like Tye" game. Tipoff is set for 3 PM and the program's seniors will be honored before the game.
