Box Score Alma, MI – Women's Basketball hosted Albion College on Wednesday night in their penultimate regular season game. Alma was victorious by a final of 63-58.
The Scots got the offense going in the first half. Alma scored 18 in the first quarter, outgunning Albion to hold a 2-point lead. The Scots would turn around and outscore the Britons 17-11 in the second. At half the score was 35-27.
Out of the half, Alma scored a flurry of quick points, but Albion came storming back. A 16-12 quarter helped the Britons pull within 4. Down the stretch Albion got as close a 1 point, but never took the lead. Alma was able to close out the game with their work at the charity stripe, and score a huge MIAA win.
Taylor Sas let it fly all night long. The junior scored 24 points on 9-15 shooting and 5-8 shooting from beyond the arc. She led the scoring for Alma, also securing 2 boards and 2 assists. Maddie Robbins was the leading rebounder in the game. One of the shortest in physical size made her presence felt with 13 rebounds, also scoring 7 points, with 2 steals and 2 assists. Brooke LeRoux also grabbed 12 boards, coming 1 point shy of a double double with 9 points. Olivia Warren was the leading assist getter, with 10 points and 5 dimes.
The Scots got help from Hope on Wednesday evening. The Flying Dutch defeated Adrian, giving Alma sole possession of the 5th seed in the MIAA Tournament. With one game to go, the Scots will look to secure that place on Saturday against Olivet.
