Grand Rapids, MI – Alma College Track continued their indoor season in Grand Rapids at Aquinas, taking part in the MIAA v WHAC Challenge. The Scots saw several solid performances as well as records broken.
On the women's side, Ericka Bigham finished 2nd in the 200 meters, with Andrea Taghon running to a 9th place finish. Taghon also finished 9th in the 60 meter hurdles prelims, but her time of 9.96 broke the Alma College record that she had just set earlier this season by .01. Bigham went on to win the 400 meters with a 58.87. Victoria Hatton and Jenna Belmas took 5th and 6th place in the 600 meters. Cornelia Gotaas claimed the second Alma win on the women's side with a 2:26.83 in the 800. She would also come home 2nd in the mile. In the 1000, the Scots scored 6-7-8-9 courtesy of Kaitriss DeGroft, Jordan Fox, Sophia Dech, and Hatton. Helena Snyder came home 8th in the high jump.
On the men's side, Devin Rice and Chandler Holloway finished 5th and 6th in the 60m. Rice came back with a 4th place finish in the 200 meters, and was joined by Jordan Maxima in 8th, and Ross McNeel in 10th. McNeek took 7th in the 400 meters, and was followed by Justin Kissling and Matthew Lewis who notched 4th and 5th in the 600 meters, along with Haydin Sims who grabbed a 6th place finish in the 800. The distance crew continued to put in the work in the 1000 meters. Braxton Lamey broke the Alma College record in the event with a 2:48.81. He was followed by Cliff Maginity who came in second, and Matthew Lewis became the third Scot to place in the top 5 in the event. Lamey also scored 2nd place in the mile. Ed Markarian finished 8th in the long jump.
The Scots will be in action on the 17th, with the host of the tune up meet still undetermined.
