Box Score Alma, MI – Alma College Women's Basketball hit the hardwood against nationally ranked Calvin University in MIAA Play on Wednesday night. Alma was defeated 77-68.
The Scots flexed their muscles defensively in the first quarter. The Scots stymied the Knights offense to hold a 3 point advantage after one. The second quarter saw both offenses, which struggled in the first, unload for a combined 44 points. Calvin won the quarter, but lead by just 1 at the half. Alma played the Knights close in the second half, trailing by single digits all the way until the final buzzer, but ultimately fell short by a final of 68-77.
Taylor Sas led the way for Alma. She played 38 minutes, scoring a team high 19 points, also notching 2 rebounds and a steal. Izzy Alston also showed out, with 16 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 steals. Brooke LeRoux and Olivia Warren each added 9 points, with LeRoux also snagging 8 rebounds in the loss. 6 of Alma's 9 players recorded a steal, with the entire starting five all grabbing one. Picking up 3 steals was Reagan Thorr. Thorr was a perfect 4-4 off the bench for 8 points to go with her steals.
Alma will next be in action on Saturday at Trine.
