The Alma College Swim and Dive Team took on Albion College and Calvin University in a double dual meet on Friday October 27th. Both the Men and the Women came close to beating Albion while falling to Calvin.
On the Men's Side Eli Mull Swam phenomenally winning the 500 Free with a time of 4:59.94 and 2nd in the 1000 Free with a time of 10:06.16. These great swims earned Eli Mull the Male Athlete of the week award at Alma College. In the 50 free Brent Riehl won with a time of 21.60, only .18 off of the school record of 21.42 and 4th in the 100 free with a time of 48.13. The highlight of the meet on the Men's side came in the 400 free relay when Riehl dove in on the final leg two body lengths behind the Albion relay team only to swim a 47.47 and beat Albion to win the relay and bring the Scots to the closest they've come to beating the Brits since 2013. The final scores on the mens side were Alma 57 Calvin 174 and Alma 99 Albion 106
For the Women Megan Neeley swam a 11:37.04 in the 1000 Free good for 4th place. She also Won the 100 Back with a time of 1:04.11. Grace Ludema had a great swim for the Scots in the 50 free placing 5th swimming a 25.97. The women also won the 400 Free Relay at the end of the meet by a ten second margin with a time of 3:52.17. The Scots out swam the Brits in the Pool but fell in the diving portion of the meet. The final scores on the women's side were Alma 63 Calvin 151 and Alma 99-126
The Scots upcoming competition sees them going on the road, Saturday November 4 at 1pm as they take on the Saints of Aquinas.
