Women's Soccer Closes Out Season at Adrian

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Alma College women's soccer team competed in their final game of the 2023 campaign as they traveled to Adrian College for an under the light's matchup with the Bulldogs. The Scots were able to net two in the game though they were ultimately defeated by a final score of 5-2.

Kicking off the game, Adrian jumped out to an early lead scoring their first two goals around the 12- and 15-minute marks. The Scots were able to put shots towards the net following the Bulldogs goals but Adrian would score the next to extend their lead. Just under 27 minutes into the half the Bulldogs tacked on another before each team was held scoreless for the rest of the half.

Coming out of the break, Alma applied pressure early and the pressure paid off. Following a corner kick, Paige Moore set up Breanna McCluskey who was able to find the back of the net and cut into the Bulldog lead just under three minutes into play in the second half. The Bulldogs answered back less than ten minutes later to regain a three-goal lead. Adrian would add their final goal of the game just under twenty minutes into the second half which gave them a four-goal lead. Alma would push to battle back throughout the rest of the contest and would break through for another goal with less than five minutes remaining. Briana Scillion set up Paige Kohler who found the back of the net for the second game in a row. Alma would run out of time as they would drop their final regular season contest of the season, 5-2.

Kohler and Lily Stephan led the Scots with three shots apiece as four players tied with one shot on goal. Allison Bush made two saves in the game as the Scots season comes to a close.

The Scots will graduate seven seniors and three fifth year student-athletes. Alma will now look towards their spring scrimmages before heading into the fall of 2024.
