Box Score Grand Rapids, MI – Alma Women's Basketball continued conference play on Saturday on the road at Calvin. Alma fell behind in the first half, and was unable to complete the comeback, falling by a final of 70-55.
The Scots fell behind early, with Calvin jumping out to an 11-3 lead. Alma would trim things to 17-14 with a big run, but this was the closest the Scots would come. Calvin shot over 50% in the first half, as the Scots couldn't catch a break despite filling many rotations defensively. At the break, a Taylor Sas buzzer beater put the score at 41-25 at halftime. Alma played a stellar third quarter defensively, holding Calvin to just 10 points, and scoring 15 of their own. However, the Knights would pull away in the 4th to close out the game.
Taylor Sas lead the Scots with 18 points as well as 2 rebounds and a block. Izzy Alston also had a great game, shooting 6-12 for 12 points with 5 rebounds and 3 blocks. Olivia Warren also added 8 points, and Maddie Robbins posted 7 points and 7 rebounds.
The Scots drop to 4-10 with a 2-3 mark in MIAA play, and are back in action on Wednesday against nationally ranked opponent Trine University.
