Box Score Notre Dame, IN – Alma College Women's Basketball continued the back half of season play on Wednesday night, playing their road contest for the season at Saint Mary's. Alma was victorious by a final of 85-67.
The Scots jumped out to an early advantage, using a big run late in the first quarter to take a 25-11 advantage to the break. Alma scored 15 points quickly in the second, but slowed down towards the end of the first half. Despite the small slump, Alma's defense held strong and the Scots carried a 44-28 lead into the locker room at halftime.
The visitors stepped up the defense to open the second half, and held the Belles to just 12 points in the quarter, while scoring 17 points of their own. The offense hit their stride in the fourth quarter, and Alma poured on 24 points to bring the final score to Alma 85, Saint Mary's 57.
The Scots were a two headed dragon, with Taylor Sas and Brooke LeRoux combining for 50 of Alma's 85 points. Sas (26 pts) shot 6-10 from three, while recording 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. LeRoux (24 pts) also made it rain from beyond the arc with a 5-8 performance from deep. She also snagged 5 boards in the win. Maddie Robbins was the leading passer for Alma with a game high 6 assists. She also scored 7 points while swiping 3 steals. Izzy Alston was the games leader on the glass. She grabbed a game high 9 rebounds, also recording a pair of blocks in the W.
Alma is back in the win column, snapping a 2 game skid, and will look to keep the momentum rolling when they host Kalamazoo on Saturday. Be sure to come out and support the team as part of the National Women and Girls in Sport Day celebration. Tip off is set for 1 PM.
