Box Score ALMA, Mich. – The Alma College men's basketball team hosted the Adrian College Bulldogs in a MIAA weekday matchup. The Scots hung close with the Bulldogs for most of the game, but Adrian came away with an 80-65 win over Alma.
Starting off the game, both offenses struggled out of the gate until Adrian broke the ice two minutes into the game. Alma responded quickly to tie the game before the Bulldogs would go on a 10-0 run to take a 12-2 lead. Both offenses started clicking by getting open looks and Alma slowly tightened the Adrian lead over the next several minutes. The Scots regained the lead with ten minutes remaining in the first half. For the next seven minutes, neither team could gain more than a one possession lead, until the Adrian stretched the score to 37-31 with just over a minute remaining in the half. Adrian went into the half with a 39-33 lead.
Adrian would pick up where they left off in the first half and continue to extend their lead but the Scots wouldn't go away that easily. Alma brought their deficit down to seven with just over ten minutes remaining. Adrian continued to hold the Scots back and would get defensive stops, but the Scots were always within reach. With just under 3 minutes left in the game Adrian would create their largest lead of the night and the Scots would run out of time and drop the first meeting of two this season.
Tyshaun Walker ended the night with 14 points to lead the Scots in scoring. Connor Riley added another 12 points and two steals. Colton Meister collected a team-high nine rebounds and two blocks. Landen Moore-Pierce and Peyton Bush added two assists each for the game. Alma had nine assists total as team, two more than the Bulldogs.
Alma will be back in action on Saturday, January 14th, when they travel to Olivet College to take on the Comets. Tipoff will be at 3:00 p.m.
