Box Score OLIVET, Mich. — The Alma College Women's Basketball team closed out regular season play with a win over Olivet College, 81-45, on Saturday, Feb. 19.
The Scots started off with points on the board and remained untouched for the first three minutes of play. Olivet kept a steady pace with Alma at, 8-8, but the Scots pulled ahead for a score of 14-8, at the end of the first quarter. Alma pulled away in the second quarter with six points right off the bat from Oretha Humphries and four points from Taylor Sas four minutes into the second quarter. The Scots closed out the half up, 38-22.
The third quarter started with a layup from Olivet, but Alma scored 22 points to Olivet's 10 to put the Scots up 60-35 going into the final quarter. Alma secured the win with a score of 81-45 to end the game.
Oretha Humphries led the Scots with 16 points. Taylor Sas followed close behind with 15 points and eight rebounds. Maddie Robbins added three assists and Kendall Griffioen posted three blocks.
Overall on the year, Alma finished fifth in the MIAA with an even record of 8-8 and an overall record of 14-11. Next, Alma heads Calvin on Feb. 23 for the MIAA Women's Basketball Tournament quarterfinals.
