Women's Basketball Wins Second Straight Against Heidelberg

Tiffin, OH – Alma Women's Basketball picked up their non-conference slate and continued their season on Tuesday at Heidelberg. The Scots were victorious by a final of 64-50.

The Scots jumped out to an early advantage, and led 22-11 after the first quarter. Heidelberg wasn't going to just roll over though, and fought back to keep the gap at 10 at halftime. The two teams continued to trade baskets, with Alma unable to pull away despite threatening on several occasions. The Scots closed the game out with an excellent quarter defensively, holding the home five to just 9 points in the closing quarter. In the end, Alma was ahead 64-50 at the final horn.

Taylor Sas exploded for 28 points to lead all scorers in the game. She shot 8-18 from the field, and was a perfect 9-9 at the free throw line. She also was tied for the game lead in assists with 4. Alma got 8 points from Maddie Robbins, and 8 more points from Brooke Leroux who also snagged 7 rebounds in the win. Izzy Alston also did work on the boards, grabbing 6 rebounds while scoring 6 points and collecting a pair of big blocks defensively.

The Scots win their second straight and move to 4-6 on the season. The team will break for Christmas before heading out West to Oregon for a pair of games. The first is slated for a 9 PM EST tipoff against Pacific (OR) on December 29th.
