Box Score Alma, MI – Alma Women's Basketball continued their MIAA schedule on Saturday with a home contest against Saint Mary's. Alma was victorious by a final score of 84-75.
The Scots got off to a quick start, only for the Belles to come roaring back and take the lead. The two teams went bucket for bucket, with the visitors holding a 17-15 lead after one. The second quarter saw the Scots get hot. Alma connected from downtown on several shots, and converted time and time again. They put up 23 points in the 2nd quarter and led 38-27 at the half. Saint Mary's played hard out of the break, and wouldn't let Alma pull away. Despite never taking the lead, the Belles pulled within one possession on several occasions, and the teams were separated by just 9 points after three quarters. The fourth quarter was a game of runs. The visitors would pull to within a bucket, just for the Scots to pull away again. In the end, Alma had the last run, and pulled away to win 84-75.
The Scots got help from all over offensively. Brooke Leroux scored 17 points with 9 rebounds, 2 assists, and 4 steals. Also scoring 17 was Taylor Sas. She added 2 boards and dished 8 assists. Maddie Robbins put up 14 points and 10 rebounds to secure a double-double. Olivia Warren also scored 14 off the bench, also grabbing 6 rebounds and tossing 3 assists. Izzy Alston helped out defensively with 4 blocks.
The Scots move to 3-6, with a 2-1 mark in MIAA play. They will be back in action at Heidelberg on the 20th, with a 2 PM tip-off.
