Box Score Alma, MI – Alma Women's Basketball opened their season on Tuesday night as they hosted Oberlin College. Alma was defeated by a score of 77-62.
Oberlin jumped out to a 9-1 lead early, and the Scots struggled to take the lid off the basket. Once the scoring started, Alma responded with a 12-8 run to pull the gap down to 5. However, Oberlin continued to find ways to score. At halftime, the score was 44-29 in favor of the visitors. Alma played a much closer 2nd half, outscoring Oberlin in the 4th quarter on the way to a final score of 77-62.
Alma was led by Taylor Sas, who tallied 17 points with a rebound, going 7-9 from the free throw line. Reagan Thorr added 7 points, while also adding a game high 7 rebounds. Brooke Leroux totaled 6 points, as did Malorie Rzepka with 3 boards, and Izzy Alston who scored 6 points with 7 rebounds. Olivia Warren facilitated the offense for the Scots with 4 points, 3 assists, and 6 rebounds.
The Scots will look to bounce back on the road this weekend with games against St. Olaf and Beloit at the North Park Tip Off Tournament.
