Swimming Competes in Saginaw Valley Tri Meet

Saginaw, MI – Alma Swimming took to the road for their season opener on Saturday. The Scots faced off with Saginaw Valley and Kalamazoo College to kick things off. The men were defeated 242-43 by Saginaw Valley, and 214-77 by Kalamazoo. The women lost to SVSU by a score of 251-41 and were dropped by the Hornets 197-84. 

On the women's side, Grace Ludema was 4th overall in the 200 Freestyle, posting a time of 2:09.55. She also notched a 4th place finish in the 100 free with a 56.91. Megan Neeley was 6th in the 100 Backstroke in a 1:04.95. Brent Riehl recorded the highest Alma finish of the day with a 4th place mark in the 50 free. He finished in a time 22.16. The 200 Free Relay team of Megan Neeley, Laney Voisinet, Lily Brown, and Grace Ludema combined for a 3rd place finish in a time of 1:45.84.

One the men's side, Eli Mull was the top DIII finisher in the 1000 Freestyle in a time of 10:40.30. In the men's 100 yard Back, Nate Toth came in 5th place in a 59.63. Jack Knoper recorded a 5th place finish in the 200 Back with a 2:13.67.Matt Arrigoni clocked a 2:11.70 to come home 5th in the 200 IM.

Alma will next be in action on October 21st at the MIAA Relay Invite.
