UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Alma College track and field teams traveled to SVSU for the third time this season on Friday (Jan. 21) for the Doug Hansen Open. The Scots had a solid showing both on the track and in the field.
Bailey Hoffman continued her hot streak. The senior broke her own school record in the weight throw for the third straight meet with a toss of 16.58 meters. Currently she is ranked eighth in NCAA Division III in the weight throw event. Hoffman ended the day in third place in the weight throw, and finished ninth in the shot put with a toss of 11.18 meters.
In the women's 200-meter dash, Ericka Bigham finished fourth with a time of 26.86 seconds. Andrea Taghon was seventh in the women's 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.55. Victoria Gotaas was fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:06.72. Cornelia Gotaas was eighth in the women's mile race with a time of 5:43.28.
Bigham, Taghon, Cornelia Gotaas, and Victoria Gotaas earned a second place finish in the women's 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:24.02.
On the men's side, Jacob Eck placed seventh in the shot put with a toss of 12.95 meters. Devyn Ramirez took eighth in the weight throw with a mark of 10.72 meters.
Alma was led in the men's mile race by Sean Pauley with a time of 4:38.75. Cliff Maginity ran 4:48.13, and Colton Chovanec ran 4:57.50.

Alma will send athletes to SVSU on Friday (Jan. 28) at 1:15 pm. The Scots will also compete at the Jack Skoog Open on Saturday (Jan. 29) at Central Michigan University. That meet will begin at 10:30 am.
