NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Three members of the Alma College track and field team traveled to North Central College for the Gregory Invitational on Wednesday (May 19) and Thursday (May 20). All three Scots would earn lifetime bests in their events.
Bailey Hoffman would break the women's hammer throw school record for the second straight week. The junior would finish ninth in the hammer throw with a toss of 46.20 meters.
Stephanie Davis would compete in the women's heptathlon for the second time in her career and the second straight week. On the first day of competition, Davis would set season bests in the 100 meter hurdles and 200 meter dash with times of 17.02 seconds and 29.26 seconds. The next day the senior would wrap up her career with two personal records in the long jump and javelin throw. Davis jumped 4.44 meters and threw 21.34 meters. At the conclusion of the final event, the 800 meter race, Davis would finish with an overall score of 3391 points. The score was a new personal record and 153 points better than last week's effort at Hillsdale College.
Senior Jacob Wildenhaus would also conclude his career in outstanding fashion. Wildenhaus finished fifth in the 110 meter hurdles race with a lifetime best time of 15.05 seconds. This puts him number three on Alma's all time list in that event.
"We had some great performances to close out the season at North Central. We coaches are so proud of our team. They endured a lot over the season, but stayed the course and accomplished many things. We are going to miss our seniors, but we're excited to see the many great things they will do in the future with their lives. Also, we are excited for the group of underclassmen we are bringing back for next year as they will be ready to accept the challenges that a new season will bring.
