HILLSDALE, Mich. - Three members of the Alma College women's track and field team traveled to Hillsdale College for a last chance meet on Wednesday (May 12) and Thursday (May 13). The overall highlight for the Scots came from Bailey Hoffman. The junior thrower from Olivet broke the school record in the hammer throw with a throw of 45.74 meters.
Stephanie Davis competed in the women's heptathlon event on Wednesday and Thursday. Day one of the seven event competition consisted of the 100 meter hurdles, high jump, shot put, and 200 meter dash. Davis would finish second in the shot put event with a toss of 9.20 meters. Day two featured the long jump, javelin throw, and 800 meter run. The senior from Gaylord would finish fourth in the 800 meter race with a time of 2:38.01 and finish with an overall score of 3238 points. The performance by Davis the past two days moved her to #3 on Alma's all-time top 10 list for the event.
Senior Haley Trickey was the other athlete that competed for the Scots in the 1500 meter race. Trickey would run a personal record time of 5:18.99.
"When you can come to a meet with just 3 individuals and have a personal best for one, a top 10 all-time performance for another, and a school record for the third person, I'd say you had a pretty awesome meet. We coaches are so proud of these young ladies and the way they've worked all season. It's not surprising at all that they performed as well as they did."-Head Coach Matt Chovanec.
Alma will potentially send athletes to North Central College for a last chance meet next weekend.
