ANDERSON, Ind. - The Alma College bowling team won the Collegiate Club Championships at the Championships Lanes Sunday. The Scots were in first place after the Saturday's qualifying rounds and would go onto win the Championship match and defeat Adrian College, 3-2, in a best-of-five bakers games series. Rachel Kuczajda was named Tournament Most Valuable Player.
Saturday featured a 16 game qualifying round. The Scots were at the bottom of the leaderboard after the first four game set. Alma would go on to score the highest in each of the next three sets and earn the No. 1 seed of the Tournament Round.
In their first two matches up of the tournament, the Scots won in three games to win the winners bracket and advance to the Championship series where they met the Bulldogs. Adrian, the winners of the losers bracket, forced a winner-take all series that would go all the way to a Championship deciding game. Alma came out victorious to earn the title.
At the tournament, awards were announced. Kuczajda, Kasidey Easlick, Kemmie Shunk, Brooke Fornetti, Emily Zalenko, Ziayra Hulbert and Cassie White were all named All-American Finalists. Kuczajda earned First Team All-American honors while Easlick and Shunk were both named Second Team All-Americans.
