Waverly, IOWA- Members of the Alma College women's indoor track and field traveled to Wartburg College in Iowa for the Division III Elite Indoor Meet on Friday (Mar. 12). The top 12 relay and top 16 individuals in the country were invited to compete.
Junior Bailey Hoffman finished in seventh place in the weight throw. She concluded an incredible indoor season with a toss of 15.47 meters. Hoffman will now set her sights on the outdoor season after an indoor season in which she broke the school record in the weight throw.
In the distance medley relay, sophomore Cornelia Gotaas teamed up with seniors Stephanie Davis, Grace Hearth, and Haley Trickey to run a season best time of 13:27.71. The time was good enough for a 10th place finish in the event.
"What a day! It was a great experience for our group," Head Coach Matt Chovanec said. "We came to compete and we competed very well. A season best time for our DMR and a top 8 finish for Bailey. It was an awesome way to close out our indoor season."
The Scots will now look ahead to the outdoor season.
