ALMA, Mich. - The Alma College women's basketball team took on the Olivet College Comets on their home court. The game was hard fought battle between both teams, however in the end, Alma took the win by a score of 72-60.

The game stayed neck and neck throughout the first half with neither team leading by more than single digits. The game was tied 50-50 heading into the final quarter where the Scots finished the job, outscoring the Comets by 22-10 in the final frame. Alma shot over 56 percent from the floor in the fourth with Taylor Findlay going a perfect 3-of-3 from beyond the three-point line in the final quater alone. 

Alma now moves to 4-3 overall while Olivet drops to 0-2. 

Career and season highs were made tonight, with four players breaking records. Sophomore Taylor Findlay was the leading scorer with 26 points, a career-high, while also hitting six 3-pointers. Freshman Morgan Hanchett continues to impress earning a career-high of 17 points. Emily Long was a defensive power house on the court, with a season-high of 10 rebounds. Maddie Robbins earned a career-high of seven assists as well. 

"I'm proud of the way we continued to battle and finished the game strong," Head Coach Sami Stormont said. "I thought Emily Long stepped up when we needed her senior leadership the most. Taylor Findlay was great on both ends of the floor for us tonight. I'm excited to continue to improve and compete with this group."

The Scots will return on Tuesday, Feb 9 for a road tilt at Albion College at 7:30pm. This game will kick off the MIAA conference season where games will now start to count towards the MIAA standings.
