Box Score ALMA, Mich. – The Alma College men's basketball team fell, 85-80, against the Adrian College Bulldogs on Saturday (Feb. 6) at Art Smith Arena. The Scots fall to 2-4 while the Bulldogs move to 2-10 overall.
Cole Kleiver racked up a season-high 35 points that included five 3-pointers on the day. The junior now sits at 985 points for his career at Alma. After setting a career-high for points in the last game, junior Isaiah Williamson set a new career-high with 24 points today.
It was a back-and-forth game all day until Adrian pushed its lead to 10 with just over three minutes remaining in the game. However, the Scots proved once again they would not go away quietly as they quickly cut the deficit back to three.
Alma had two opportunities to tie the game with 3-point attempts in the final seconds but neither shot fell through the basket. Adrian grabbed a last second rebound and sealed the game with two made free throws with a second left on the clock.
Brandon Rake and Nate Deyman each lead the Scots with nine rebounds. Alex King played some valuable minutes off the bench and tallied a career-high five rebounds.
"All credit goes to Adrian." Head Coach Ryan Clark said. "They came out with more energy and toughness than us tonight."
The Scots now prepare for their conference season where all games going forward will count toward the MIAA standings. The schedule features seven games, one against each MIAA opponent. Albion College is Alma's first opponent with the Scots hosting the Britons on Tuesday, February 9 at 7:30 p.m.
