Box Score OLIVET, Mich. - The Alma College women's basketball team defeated Olivet College, 55-35. The Scots (7-6, 2-4 MIAA) controlled the game from the first quarter, outscoring Olivet, 14-4. The Scots continued that trend by outscoring Olivet, 21-8, in the second quarter, to lead by 23 at halftime. From there, Alma coasted its way to a 20-point victory.
Alma had three players put up 12 points each in Morgan Hanchett, Jeny Brandt and Taylor Sas. Brandt, the senior, earned herself a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while also going 4-of-4 from the free throw line. Sas scored half of her 12 points from three-point territory.
Taylor Findlay and Emily Long each tallied seven points. Along with Long's seven points, she also had seven rebounds. Findlay, Oretha Humphries and Stasha Warchock tied for the most assists on the team with two a piece. Findlay also had a good day on defense with three steals.
"I thought we gave great defensive effort tonight and was happy with our balanced scoring on the other end," Head Coach Sami Stormont said. "Still lots to improve on, but always better to learn from a win. I'm looking forward to celebrating our great seniors on Saturday."
The Scots will finish out the regular season when they host Adrian College on Saturday, February 27th at 3:00pm. Seniors Emily Long and Jeny Brandt will be honored before the game.
