Alma Stung By Hornets

Box Score

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Alma College men's basketball team loss, 65-55, on the road to Kalamazoo College Saturday afternoon. The Scots drop to 2-7 overall while the Hornets improve to 2-1 on the season.

It was a neck-and-neck battle in the first half with Alma holding a slight one-point edge heading into halftime. The second half started out with Kalamazoo going on a run to take the lead and then Alma coming right back to tie things up. The Hornets went on run for a second time and again Alma was able to respond by making it 47-all with under eight minutes to go.

The Scots offense then struggled down the stretch as Kalamazoo regained the advantage and put some distance inbetween themselves and Alma. In the end, the Scots ran out of time to make another run and fell in a game that did not count towards the MIAA conference standings.

Alma made nine 3-pointers in the game, its second highest total of the season. The Scots also shot over 85 percent from the charity stripe but only attempted seven free throws.

Isaiah Williamson led the Scots with 14 points and also grabbed seven rebounds. Freshman Gabe Bourdeau almost notched his first career double-double with nine point and nine rebounds on the day. Alex King made his first career start and ended up with a team-high five assists

The Scots are back in action on Wednesday, February 17th when they host Hope College at 7:30 p.m.
