Box Score ALMA, Mich. - The Alma College women's basketball team (4-5, 0-2 MIAA) fell, 64-41, to the No 5th ranked Trine University (8-1, 2-0 MIAA).
Alma started the game off strong, with Jeny Brandt making the first basket of the entire game. Throughout the first half, the Scots fought hard to keep a lead, tie or just to keep the deficit within single digits. In the first quarter, there were three lead changes and a tie. At the end of the first quarter, the Scots were down 16-11.
In the second quarter, Alma cut it to a two-point game at 24-22, however Trine finished out the half on a run. The Scots were never able to get the deficit back down to single digits for the rest of the night.
Stasha Warchock was the leading scorer for the Scots tonight, with 11 points. Senior Emily Long had a solid game, scoring eight points and four rebounds.
"I thought we did some good things tonight, but also have a lot to conitnue to improve on," Head Coach Sami Stormont said. "Again, we turned the ball over too many times to give ourselves a change to win that game. I'm looking forward to getting back to practice tomorrow."
The Scots will be seen again on their home court at 7:30pm on Monday February 15th against Calvin University.
