LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Alma College women's basketball team traveled south on Saturday, Nov. 27, to compete against Piedmont University and Berea College. The Scots went 2-0 on the weekend.
Saturday's contest against Piedmont ended 84-69. Alma was led by Taylor Sas, who went 5-for-7 from behind the arc and finished with 25 points. Stasha Warchock followed close behind with 23 points, four blocks, and six rebounds. Maddie Robbins added eight assists.
"Another great road win," head coach Sami Stormont said. "I'm proud of how we competed as a team today and how we were ready to go from the start."
On Sunday, the Scots faced Berea and ended up with their second win of the weekend, a 70-54 score. Sas continued to lead all scorers, this time finishing with 28 points. Kendall Griffioen and Morgan Hanchett added eight points each and Robbins assisted 11.
Sas was named the Pat Deacon Classic MVP for her stellar performance. Sas averaged 26.5 points per game and shot 80 perce nt from the floor.
"Nice to come down here and get two wins," Stormont said. "I am proud of the way we competed and grew as a team. Looking forward to getting back to practice to work on us."
Next, Alma is back in Art Smith Arena to play their first conference game against Kalamazoo College on Saturday, Dec. 4.
