ALBION, Mich. — The Alma College Football team traveled on the road Saturday, Nov. 13 to face Albion for their final game of the season. The Scots fell to the Britons 34-7. Alma finished 1-5 in MIAA play and went 5-5 overall.
The Britons maintained hold of the game from the start with an early touchdown and extra point to put Albion up 7-0 in the first quarter. Albion continued to add to the lead, scoring 20 more points in the second quarter to go into halftime up, 27-0.
The Britons added one more touchdown in the third quarter before Trent Devereaux made the pass to Nate Webb for a two-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. Joshua Hernandez completed the kick to put the final score at 34-7.
"Albion is a very good football team and deserves to be conference champions. I'm proud of how the Scots continued to play hard until the end," said head coach Jason Couch.
Devereaux finished the game 10-for-21 with 101 passing yards. Vernonelle Smith Jr. led with 19 rushing yards and Nathan Goralski caught three passes for 41 yards. Odin Soffredine finished with a game-high 16 tackles, followed by 13 from Gage Nelson, and Garrett Pratt with 10. Alma added three turnovers against the Britons to continue their lead in the nation with 40 turnovers.
"I am very proud of our senior class. There aren't many seniors, but they lead with great character and fight on and off the football field," Couch said.
"I am fortunate to be around them daily and they will truly be missed."
