ALMA, Mich. – The Alma College men's basketball team battled hard, but ultimately fell to Oberlin College (OH) on Saturday, Nov. 13, 67-59. The game came down to the last minute of play where, Oberlin knocked down free throws to move away from the Scots. 

The Scots fell behind early in the first half after Oberlin started the game on an 8-2 run. Alma then battled back in an intense first half of basketball. Alma finished the first half on a 10-0 run capped off with a half-court shot at the buzzer that was made by Cole Kleiver to send the Scots into half down 29-28. 

Alma battled throughout the whole second half and came within three points of Oberlin late, but the Yeomen ultimately toppled the Scots and took home their second win on the season. The Scots now move to 1-1 on the season.  

The Scots were led by Brandon Whiteside, who tallied 15 points. Following behind was Cole Kleiver with 14 points of his own. Kleiver also had a team-high four assists. 

Gabe Bourdeau led the Scots in rebounding with nine. Alma's bench outscored the Yeomen 16-14.  

Alma will play next at home against Illinois Wesleyan University at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19.
