ALMA, Mich. – The Alma College Football team faced Hope College on Saturday, Oct. 30, at Bahlke Field, but fell short, 27-3. With the loss, the Scots fell to 1-3 in conference play and 5-3 overall.
Hope took a 7-0 lead on the Scots at the end of the first quarter with a one-yard run into the end zone. Hope continued their lead in the second quarter with a 23-yard field goal to go up, 10-0. The Scots responded with a 37-yard field goal from Joshua Hernandez put the score at 10-3. The Dutchmen fired back with another field goal to make the halftime score 13-3.
Neither team scored in the third quarter. The Flying Dutchmen scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter and won, 27-3.
Jax Kinninger finished the game 5-for-12 with 40 passing yards. Kinninger also led with 40 rushing yards and Noah Janssen caught two passes for 23 yards. Gage Nelson finished with a game-high 14 tackles, followed by 13 from Odin Soffredine, and 10 from Drew Humm.
Next, the Scots celebrate their seniors at home on Saturday, Nov. 6, against Trine University for their Veterans Day game.
