Box Score GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Alma College women's basketball team won on the road versus the Knights from Calvin University by a score 63-54. The Scots move to 1-1 on the young season while Calvin drops to 0-1.
Alma had something to prove against a Calvin team that defeated them three times last season, including in the MIAA tournament. The Scots played tremendous defense all day, holding the Knights to 23.2 field goal percentage. They also found great success from the free throw line by hitting 14-of-17 shots from the charity stripe.
Sophomore Taylor Findlay had a career day off the bench with 15 points and seven rebounds including a perfect 5-of-5 from the free throw line. Sophomore Maddie Robbins produced her first career double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Robbins also hit all of her free throw attemps.
Junior Stasha Warchock made her season-debut and scored 10 points. Senior Jeny Brandt had a great day around the basket on defense as well as offense with a team-high 12 rebounds. Freshman Morgan Hanchett led the Scots with four assists.
The Scots will be seen again Monday, Jan 25th in their home opener against Albion College at 7:30pm.
