Alma Clipped by Knights

Box Score

ALMA, Mich. – The Alma College men's basketball team lost, 93-72, to the Calvin University Knights at Art Smith Arena on Saturday. The loss drops Alma to 0-3 on the year while the Knights improve to 3-1.

After falling into a cold spell in the first half, the Scots shot well in the second half, making over 50 percent of their attempts from the field. However, Calvin's offense was too strong with over 40 points in each half.

3-pointers and free throws proved to be the difference as Calvin made five more shots from beyond the arc than Alma and also made 17 shots from the charity stripe compared to the Scots' five.

Cole Kleiver had a team-high 18 points while Brandon Rake provided 14, the most for the junior since Nov. 16, 2019. The Whitehall native went 7-of-11 from the field while grabbing five rebounds.

Isaiah Williamson finished with 11 points, three assists and three rebounds. Freshman Gabe Bourdeau posted team-highs of seven rebounds and four assists.

Alma's next game comes on Wednesday, January 27th in a road tilt with Hope College.
