Alma, Mich. – The Alma College women's basketball team dropped a 66-48 decision to Calvin University on Wednesday (Jan. 8).

Oretha Humphries (Detroit, Mich. / Detroit Edison Public) led Alma with 11 points. Hannah Thelen (Pewamo, Mich. / Pewamo-Westphalia) and Stasha Warchock (Marquette, Mich. / Marquette) each had 10.

Alma (7-6, 2-2 MIAA) struggled shooting the ball against the conference's second-best defense. The Scots shot a season-low 27 percent from the field.

Alma pulled to within eight points at halftime after a strong second quarter. Humphries made all four of her shots in the second half but it wouldn't be enough.

Calvin's Gabby Timmer led all players with 18 points. Stephanie Coors had 16 and Leah Harris had 11.

The Scots return to action on Saturday (Jan. 11) when they host Trine University at Art Smith Arena at 3:00 p.m.
