Adrian, Mich. - The Alma College women's golf team finished eighth at the second Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree of the season on Tuesday (Sept. 24) at the Lenawee Golf Club. The Scots had an overall team score of 370. Saint Mary's College continued their dominance in conference play by winning the event with a score of 326.
Alma sits in sixth place after two conference competitions, 23 strokes behind Calvin for fourth place. Saint Mary's leads with a total score of 638, 36 strokes better than second-place Olivet.
The Scots were led individually by freshman Morgan Yates (Shepherd, Mich. / Shepherd) with a score of 87 and finishing tied for 15th place individually. Following Yates was sophomore Ava Gardiner (Sterling Heights, Mich. / Stevenson) with a score of 92, which put her in a tie for 33rd place. Finishing two strokes behind her was freshman Kayleigh Reilly (Mount Pleasant, Mich. / Mount Pleasant) with a score of 94 and a tie for 35th place. Senior Jennifer Kowalczyk (Northville, Mich. / Northville) shot a 97 and finished tied for 42nd. Finishing the scoring for the Scots was junior Grace Grelak (Canton, Mich. / Salem) with a score of 98 and finishing tied for 46th place.
Up next for the Scots is the third MIAA Jamboree of the fall season. The event will be hosted by Trine University on Saturday (Sept. 28) from the Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Ind. Tee-off is set for 1:00 pm.
