Women's Golf Ties for Second at First MIAA Jamboree

Alma, Mich. - The Alma College women's golf team opened up conference play on Saturday (Sept. 14) from the Pine River Country Club for the first Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree of the year. The Scots finished tied for second as a team with Hope College, finishing with a team score of 334. Saint Mary's College won the event with a team score of 312.

Individually the Scots had four women with scores under 90. Leading the way was freshman Morgan Yates (Shepherd, Mich. Shepherd) who finished tied for ninth place overall with a score of 82. Right behind Yates was senior Jennifer Kowalczyk (Northville, Mich. / Northville) who finished tied for 12th with an 83. Also finishing with a score of 83 for the Scots was sophomore Ava Gardiner (Sterling Heights, Mich. / Stevenston). Junior Grace Grelak (Canton, Mich. Salem) finished tied for 21st place with a score of 86. Rounding out the scoring for the Scots was junior Kirstyn Cotton (Midland, Mich. / Midland), who finished tied for 36th with a score of 91.

The Scots will be back in action Tuesday (Sept. 24) for the second MIAA Jamboree hosted by Adrian College. The event will begin at 1:00 pm from Lenawee Golf Club in Adrian, Mich.
