Box Score Kenosha, Wis. - The Alma College men's basketball team suffered a tight 98-94 setback to No. 22 Carthage College on Saturday (Dec. 14) evening.
The Scots (4-4) trailed for most of the game but forced a tie at 85 with four minutes left and were within one after two free throws by Cole Kleiver (Williamston, Mich. / Williamston) with 46 seconds left. Carthage's Jordon Kedrowski hit a stepback three on the next possession to seal the game.
Steven Harvey (Grand Rapids, Mich. / Forest Hills Eastern) led Alma with a season-high? 27 points and seven rebounds. Kyle Woodruff (Grand Blanc, Mich. / Holly) had 20 points. Kleiver had 14 points and both Isaiah Williamson (Sebewaing, Mich. / Unionville-Sebewaing Area) and Brandon Rake (Whitehall, Mich. / Whitehall) scored 11. Ryan Stevens (Lowell, Mich. / Lowell) posted nine points, seven assists, six rebounds and two steals.
The Scots led by three at halftime after Kleiver, Williamson and Harvey each hit threes on three straight possessions. Alma was outscored 11-5 to start the second half never got the lead back.
It is the third time this year Alma has scored at least 90 points and the first time it has done so in a loss. It is also Alma's second-best shooting performance of the year.
The Scots return to action on Monday when they travel to Iowa to face the University of Dubuque at 7:00 p.m.
