Women's Golf Wins Defiance Invitational with Program Low 324

Defiance, Ohio - The Alma College women's golf team won the Defiance Invitational on Saturday (Sept. 8) with a program record 324 (+40). Day 2 was canceled due to inclement weather. This was Alma's first tournament win since 1997.

The Scots had four top-ten finishers, led by Kennedy Hilley (Lake Odessa, Mich. / Lakewood) who took first place in the ten-team, 54 player tournament with a 77 (+6), three strokes off her career-low. Tori Basso (Lake Orion, Mich. / Lake Orion) was third, tying her career-low 79 (+8). Kirstyn Cotton (Midland, Mich. / Midland) had a career-best 83 (+12), finishing tied for sixth place and Hannah Joslin (Linden, Mich. / Linden) finished in 10th, two strokes off her career low with an 85 (+14). Jennifer Kowalczyk (Northville, Mich. / Northville) shot a 92 (+21) and placed 24th.

Alma returns to the course on Thursday (Sept. 13) at the first MIAA Jamboree. Tee off is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Medalist Golf Club in Marshall, Mich.
