Women's Golf Ends First Tournament in Fourth

Marshall, Mich. - The Alma College women's golf team ended the Olivet Invitational on Sunday (Sept. 2) in fourth place with 705 total strokes, just one stroke behind Olivet.

Kennedy Hilley (Lake Odessa, Mich. / Lakewood) led Alma's second round effort with an 84 (+12), nine strokes better than her Saturday score. She hit a hole-in-one on the par 3 third, the only eagle of the tournament and the first in the 27-year history of the Alma College women's golf team.

Tori Basso (Lake Orion, Mich. / Lake Orion) led the Scots over the course of the tournament with a 168 (83, 85, +24). Ava Gardiner (Sterling Heights, Mich. / Adlai E. Stevenson) and Jennifer Kowalczyk (Northville, Mich. / Northville) each had solid days, as well, posting an 88 (+16) and 90 (+18), respectively.

Hanover walked away the winner with 676 (+100) strokes. Aquinas followed in second with 690 (+114) strokes, while Olivet placed third with 704 (+128). Indiana University - Kokomo, Franklin College, Allegheny and Defiance all finished behind Alma.

The women's golf team is back in action on Saturday, Sept. 8 at 1 p.m. at the Defiance Invitational at the White Pines Golf Course in Swanton, Ohio.
