Women's Golf Takes Fifth at First MIAA Jamboree

Marshall, Mich. - The Alma College women's golf team took fifth place in the first Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Club Jamboree on Thursday, September 13. The team shot a 353 and were led by senior Tori Basso (Lake Orion, Mich./Lake Orion), who tied for second overall had a career-low 78, taking one stroke off her previous best set at last week's Defiance Invitational. 

Kristyn Cotton (Midland, Mich./Midland) and Hannah Joslin (Linden, Mich./Linden) finished in a tie for 28th, each posting a 91. Freshman Ava Gardiner (Sterling Heights, Mich./Adlai E. Stevenson) shot a 93 and landed in fourth for the Scots and tied for 34th overall. In a tie for 37th overall, senior Kennedy Hilley (Lake Odessa, Mich./Lakewood) shot a 94. 

St. Mary's College were the victors in the first MIAA Jamboree, posting a 326 with three players finishing in the top ten. Hope College took second of the nine conference teams with 332 strokes, while Albion came in third with a score of 346.

The women's golf team hosts the Alma Invitational on Saturday, September 15 at the Pine River Country Club. Tee time is set for 1 p.m.
