Grand Rapids, Mich. - The Alma College track and field returned to Aquinas College on Friday (Feb. 9) for the Saints' annual Little Meet. The Scots earned victories in seven events, including two by freshman Torres Ingraham (Nassau, Bahamas/Northview (AL)).
What Happened
- Ingraham claimed two of the three victories for the men on the evening, doing so in the 60-meter dash, finishing in 7.12 seconds, and the long jump, landing in the pit at 6.76 meters.
- Senior Chelse Van Spronsen (Jenison, Mich./Jenison) earned one of three individual victories for the women's team in the one mile run, finishing in 5:30.57. Van Spronsen also claimed third in the 1000-meter run, finishing in 3:21.86.
- The other two individual victories for the women's team came at the hands of senior Karen Flesh (Aurora, Ill./Metea Valley) and sophomore Madison Swope (Jackson, Mich./Northwest). Flesh threw for 10.65 meters in the shot put and finished second in the weight throw; Swope finished the 600-meter run in 1:59.36.
- Sophomore Payton Hirschenberger (Freeland, Mich./Saginaw Nouvel) earned the sixth victory for Alma in the triple jump, stretching the tape out to 12.71 meters.
- The women's 4x400-meter relay team of sophomores Blaire Showers (Ithaca, Mich./Ithaca), Erin Goggins (Hastings, Mich./Hastings) and freshmen Callie Jones (Mason, Mich./Mason) and Brittany Pierce (Leslie, Mich./Leslie) earned the seventh Alma victory, finishing in 4:31.62.
- Freshman John Mitrzyk (Standish, Mich./Standish-Sterling) kept pace with Ingraham in both the 60-meter and the long jump, finishing second and third respectively in the events. Mitrzyk also took second in the 200-meter dash.
- Three other Scots earned runner-up finishes on the night: senior Jeffrey Schlicker (Standish, Mich./Standish-Sterling), Blaire Showers, and freshman Grace Hearth (Freeland, Mich./Valley Lutheran). Schlicker ran the one mile in 4:44.32, Showers ran the 800-meter in 2:26.64, and Hearth finished the 60-meter dash in 8.28 seconds.

Notables
- Ingraham's time of 7.12 seconds in the 60-meter dash pushed him closer to the school record time, still sits second in school history.
- Along with the seven victories, Alma claimed six runner-up and 13 third-place spots in the meet.
- All but two of Alma's seven victories were earned by freshmen and sophomores.

The Scots travel to the campus of Grand Valley State University on Friday, Feb. 16, for their the GVSU Tune-Up meet, Alma's last competition before the MIAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
