Allendale, Mich. - Five members of the Alma College track and field made the trek to Grand Valley State University on Friday (Feb. 16) for the GVSU Tune-Up meet.
Each Scot competed in one event in preparation for the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Indoor Championships, which will take place on Saturday, Feb. 24, on the campus of Trine University.
What Happened
- Sophomore Jacob Wildenhaus (Jackson, Mich./Lumen Christi) took second place in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing in 8.69 seconds.
- Sophomore Payton Hirschenberger (Freeland, Mich./Saginaw Nouvel) took part in the triple jump, landing in the pit at 12.51 meters to place 3rd in the event.
- Two Scots competed in the men's long jump. Freshman Torres Ingraham [Nassau, Bahamas/Northview (AL)] took third, jumping for 6.68 meters. Sophomore John Mitrzyk (Standish, Mich./Standish-Sterling) placed fourth at 6.59 meters.
- Junior Erin Goggins (Hastings, Mich./Hastings) vaulted her way to 3.28 meters, good for sixth place.

Notables
- Wildenhaus' performance in the hurdles (8.69 seconds) blasted his previous personal best of 8.90 seconds from the Defiance College Invitational on Jan. 27.
- Goggins' vault of 3.28 meters sits as her best of the 2018 indoor season and just 7 centimeters off her all-time best.
- All five Scots led their respective events against MIAA opponents. The GVSU Tune-Up meet included entries from Albion College, Calvin College, and Hope College.

Alma will travel to Angola, Ind., for the MIAA Indoor Championships. The conference championship meet will begin at 9:30 a.m. on the campus of Trine University.
