Box Score Alma, Mich. - The Alma College women's basketball team dropped an 80-37 decision to Calvin College on Wednesday evening. The Scots are now 2-18 overall and 1-11 in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association, while Calvin is 14-7 and 9-3.
Chloee King (Standish, Mich. / Standish-Sterling Central) led Alma with seven points and added five rebounds. Charley Hengesbach (Saginaw, Mich. / Nouvel Catholic Central) and Hannah Syme (Grand Rapids, Mich. / Forest Hills Eastern/Calvin College) totaled six points each as Hengesbach also had three rebounds, three steals and two blocks. Mikayela Johns (LeRoy, Mich. / Cadillac) saw action in her sixth career game and went for five points and six rebounds in 21 minutes.
Calvin's Bre Luurtsema scored 26 points and pulled in 13 rebounds. Ali Spayde and Kara Minderhoud scored 16 and 14, respectively.
How It Happened
- Calvin ended the first quarter going 9-of-10 from the field after missing its first three shots of the game. Both teams struggled in the second quarter, shooting a combined 10-of-32 (31 percent), though the Scots made three of their eight three-point attempts.
- Charley Hengesbach scored a team-high four points in the third quarter for Alma and Mikayela Johns played all ten minutes and grabbed four of her six rebounds. The Scots led 10-6 in the third before Calvin scored the quarter's final 12 points.
- Emily Long (Dayton, Ohio / Arch Bishop Alter) posted four points in the fourth quarter, Hannah Syme scored three and Hengesbach notched all three of her steals in the frame. Calvin made eight of its 11 shots to seal the win.

- Madison Hill (Midland, Mich. / Bullock Creek) tallied five assists. She is tied for fourth in the conference in assists per game at 4.3.
- Mikayela Johns posted new career-highs in points, field goals, three-pointers, rebounds and minutes.
- Hannah Syme scored a career-high six points on two made threes.
- Charley Hengesbach had a career-high three steals.
