Naperville, Ill. - The Alma College wrestling team travelled to its third invitational of the season, hosted by North Central College (Ill.). Sophomore Brendan Ladd (Ortonville, Mich./Brandon) led the day for the Scots, claiming victory in the 141-pound weight class. Alma finished 10th in the competition with 48 team points.

What Happened

• Brendan Ladd finished the day with a perfect 5-0 record, claiming first place in the 141-pound weight class with a 9-1 major decision over Brendan Gould of Augutana College (IL). Ladd earned two pins, including one over MIAA opponent Emmanuel Rankine of Adrian College, and posted one technical fall on his way to victory.
• Senior Aaron Parr-Besemer (Berkley, Mich./Berkley) placed sixth in the 125-pound weight class, defeating MIAA adversary Cameron Mahlich of Olivet College before falling into the consolation bracket. Parr-Besemer ended the day with a medical forfeit in the fifth-place match.
• Freshman Chase Beecher (Clio, Mich./Clio) went 4-2 in 133-pound bracket, good for sixth place, earning two victories via pin. Beecher's day included a match with MIAA opponent Spencer Fox of Olivet, which Beecher won in an 8-4 decision.
• At 174 pounds, freshman Austin Fox (Fort Worth, Texas/Timber Creek) posted a 3-2 record on the day. After dropping a 12-7 decision early, Fox won three straight matches, including a pin of Noah Hauser of North Central in under two minutes, and a 9-0 major decision over Delmontae Davis of the University of Dubuque (IA).

• Brendan Ladd has now won 16 consecutive matches and back-to-back victories in the 141-pound weight class. Ladd is ranked sixth in the nation in the 141-pound weight class in the latest d3wrestling.com poll, holding a season record of 21-2.
• Aaron Parr-Besemer's victory over Olivet's Mahlich ended a five-match losing skid.
• At 285 pounds, freshman Austin Popp (Clinton, Mich./Clinton) snapped an eight-match losing streak with a victory over Daniel Petrela of the University of Dubuque.
