Box Score Holland, Mich. - The Alma College women's basketball team fell to No. 6 Hope College 83-65 on Saturday (Jan. 28) afternoon. Kaitlyn Kendall (Farmington Hills, Mich./North Farmington) led the team with 13 points.
Alma (5-14, 3-7 MIAA) trailed by five just seconds before the end of the first quarter until Hope's Angelique Gaddy hit a buzzer-beating three-pointer to extend the lead to eight.
In the second quarter, the Scots cut the deficit to seven after a block by Kelsey Wolffis (Muskegon, Mich./Mona Shores) led to a fastbreak layup by Tara Padgett (Freeland, Mich./Freeland). Wolffis had four blocks in the game, which gives her 57 for the season and 116 in her two-year career.
Eleven players saw action for the Scots and ten got on the scoreboard. Alma also outrebounded the Flying Dutch (18-2, 10-1 MIAA) 36-33.
Alma returns to the court on Wednesday, February 1. It will host Kalamazoo at Art Smith Arena at 6:00 p.m. Alma defeated the Hornets 76-64 earlier this year. Hannah Thelen (Pewamo, Mich./Pewamo-Westphalia) and Skylr Goodman (Standish, Mich./Standish Sterling Central) both recorded double-doubles in that game while Madison Hill (Midland, Mich./Bullock Creek) scored a career-high 15 points.
