Box Score Grand Rapids, Mich. - The Alma College women's basketball team fell to Aquinas College 71-50 on Wednesday evening. The loss drops the Scots to 2-8 on the year while the Saints improve to 8-8.
Kelsey Wolffis (Muskegon, Mich./Mona Shores) led Alma in multiple stats on the night with 12 points, nine rebounds and two blocks and tied for the team lead with three assists. The Scots went on a 9-0 run in the early stages of the first quarter to take a 9-8 lead but fell behind after a 10-0 run by the Saints. Aquinas would not look back as it built a lead as big as 25.
In her first start of the season, Skylr Goodman (Standish, Mich./Standish Sterling Central) shot a game-high 80-percent and scored 10 points, two shy of her season/career high. Wolffis' two blocks gives her 85 in her career and adds to her conference-high total of 2.6 blocks per game. Wolffis is seven blocks away from moving into second place on the program's all-time block list.
The Scots forced 19 Aquinas turnovers and scored 15 points off of them. Alma also got to the free-throw line 23 times, making 14 of its attempts.
Alma returns to action on Friday when it hosts Defiance College at 5 p.m. at Art Smith Arena.
