Alliance, Ohio — The Alma College wrestling team traveled to Alliance, Ohio, this weekend to participate in the Mount Union Duals. The Scots finished the day with a 1-3 record. 

Alma began the day against host Mount Union, falling by a 33-16 margin. The Scots picked up wins at 125 pounds when freshman Brendan Ladd (Ortonville, Mich./Brandon) scored a 13-6 decision, at 133 pounds when freshman Noah Lopez (Hartland, Mich./Hartland) achieved a tech fall of 19-4 and at 184 pounds when senior Trent Hullet (Jackson, Mich./Parma Western) scored an 18-3 technical fall victory. Junior Taylor McPhail (Muskegon, Mich./Mona Shores) earned a 10-3 decision at 174 pounds to round out the fourth win.

No. 19 Baldwin Wallace took the second match of the day with a 32-6 victory. Ladd was victorious over Chris Doyle at 125 pounds with a 6-2 decision and McPhail gained the decision over Graham Montague at 174 pounds.

The single Scots victory of the day was against Thiel (PA), 28-22. Ladd continued his win streak at 125 pounds with a fall 3:55 into the match. Lopez earned a decision at 133 for his second win of the day, while sophomore Evyn Bryant (Romeo, Mich./Romeo) and McPhail won by fall at 149 and 174 pounds, respectively. Junior Cameron Daniels (Rochester, Mich./Rochester) made his season debut at 285 pounds with a decision win to close out the match. 

Alma finished the day with a 36-13 setback against 11th-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology (NJ). Ladd finished the day 4-0 with a major decision of 13-0 at 125 pounds, while in the 174 pound match McPhail gained the fall at 2:42. Freshman Aaron Kelley (Byron, Mich./Byron Area) snagged the heavyweight match with an 8-4 decision. 

The Scots will take a weekend off for Thanksgiving and will be back in action on Saturday, Dec. 3, when they will participate in the Ohio Northern Invitational in Ada, Ohio.
