Battle Creek, Mich. - The Alma College women's golf team finished the Fall Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Championship at the Bedford Valley Country Club in fourth place with a combined two-day score of 672 (+96). The Scots finished the day 15 strokes better than Trine University, which entered the day in fourth place. Despite improving on Day 2 of this weekend's tournament, Alma failed to qualify for the Spring MIAA Championship, placing in fifth place, 14 strokes behind Trine over four MIAA Jamborees and this weekend's Fall MIAA Championship.
Tori Basso (Lake Orion, Mich./Lake Orion) finished in fifth place with a 160 (79, 81). Hannah Joslin (Linden, Mich./Linden) came in tied for 15th with a 166 (83, 83) followed by Kennedy Hilley (Lake Odessa, Mich./Lakewood) who was tied for 22nd with a 172 (85, 87), Jennifer Kowalczyk (Northville, Mich./Northville) tied for 27th with a 174 (90, 84) and Katie Neiswender (Quincy, Ill./Notre Dame) who was tied for 40th with a 185 (91, 94).
Hope, St. Mary's, Olivet and Trine have all qualified for the Spring MIAA Championship, where the winner earns a berth in the NCAA Division III Golf Championships.
