The Alma Women's hoops team hit the road on Wednesday evening to take on the undefeated Knights of Calvin College. The Scots struggled at the Van Noord Arena, committing 20 turnovers en route to a 76-38 loss on the road.

Alma drops to 7-16 overall and 2-12 in the MIAA with the loss, while Calvin remains perfect at 22-0 and 13-0 in conference play.

The home team jumped out to a 6-0 lead to start the game, before a layup by Jr. F Raeanna Zink (Frankenmuth/Frankenmuth) put the Scots on the board, 6-2, with 16:44 remaining in the first half.

Following a 10-2 run by the Knights, Sr. G Morgan Henry (Wayland/Wayland Union) sank a layup to make the score 14-4 with just over 12 minutes to go.

Calvin kept the pedal to the medal for the remainder of the half to take 35-17 lead into the locker rooms.

The Scots struck first in the second half, with Sr. G Grace Wheeler (St. Ignace/LaSalle) making a layup to bring the score to 35-19 at the 19:18 mark.

Following two made free throws by Sr. G Mallory Pruett (Ishpeming/Ishpeming) at 13:53, the Knights strung together 12-straight points to extend the advantage to 59-26 with just over 10 minutes remaining in regulation.

The home team would end the night on a 10-4 run to claim the 76-38 victory over Alma.

The Scots shot 14-of-49 (28.6%) from the floor and just 3-of-12 (25.0%) from beyond the arc.

Coming off the bench, Henry led Alma with 11 points in 20 minutes. Pruett and So. F Brianna Yaroch (Sanford/Meridian) were the top rebounders for the Scots, with both grabbing six boards.

Alma is on the road next, traveling to Angola, IN to take on Trine University on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
